Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on thy own understanding. In all thy ways acknoledge Him, and He will direct your path"  Proverbs 3:5,6

My wife and I are fans of HGTV’s Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna Gaines. They help people in Waco, Texas find a house that is need of much renovation and then they get to work tailoring the renovation to meet the needs of the buyer. In almost every instance it is hard to believe that you are looking at the same house that they started with because the transformation is so amazingly beautiful.

However, one time, after looking at a house option with Chip and Joanna, during the buyer’s recorded reflections concerning the house, the buyer said, “I don’t know, it needs a lot of work and creativity and I don’t know if I can handle that.” Upon hearing this, my wife says, “Do they not know who they are dealing with? Have they not watched the show? Chip and Joanna do all the work, not them!” The buyer needs only to trust the Gaines.

That got me thinking about our spiritual walk with the Lord. Paul encourages us in Philippians 2:12 to “work out your salvation.” I am sure many have thought, “I don’t know. It will take a lot of work and I am not sure I could handle that.” But then Paul tells us in the next verse that it will not be done by our strength but that it is God effectually working in us.  God, who has proven Himself over and over again in the lives of those who have put their faith and trust in Him and the work of Christ on the cross, is the one doing the work in us. I think we can trust him as He transforms our lives into something amazingly beautiful.
